_PrimeTime discourse #3: Comparing and Selecting with Dirk Rustemeyer

Comparisons, series and rows – one could describe the research program of the philosopher Dirk Rustemeyer. We wanted to talk about the films series he programmed for the televisual space: How We See.

The cinema is the great art of the mass of 20th century. For people of all social classes, it was a school of observation of behaviours, characters, conflicts, motives and feelings. Expeditions into imaginary worlds casted a different light on to the world of everyday life. The movie selection offered a range of contrasting cinematic representations that both highlighted the precariousness of montage technology and recorded a historical situation in which signs and signified detach from each other.
